The Environmental Services Worker is responsible for a 7-step cleaning process in patient care areas and other areas of the hospital. In this cleaner role you are responsible for following infection control guidelines and for providing a safe and sanitary environment for all. This position may also be called upon to aid the other departments that make up Hospitality Services.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Complete the 7 steps of cleaning daily in the cleaning of patient rooms. This includes emptying trash/recycling, high dusting, damp wiping, cleaning restrooms, dust mopping, damp mopping, bed making and final room inspection.
  • Collect waste in assigned areas within a scheduled timeframe.
  • Keep assigned equipment and storage area clean and organized at all times.
  • Follow the phone system procedures to log in beds for discharges.
  • Restocks paper products, trash bags and soap supplies throughout patient and public areas.
  • Buff floors as assigned with attention to detail.
  • Responsible for other cleaning duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School/GED or equivalent preferred
  • For safety and quality reasons, must speak, read, write and understand English fluently
  • Team player, able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • 2-3 years of previous work experience is preferred

POSITION SUMMARY:

Direct patient care contact in the prehospital setting, Emergency department, hospital patient care units, and during ambulance transport. Ability to accept patient care directives/orders from hospital physicians, nursing staff, and Lowell General Hospital EMS leadership. Cares for patients and conducts clinically appropriate patient care and ambulance transport in accordance with established hospital policies and Massachusetts Statewide Treatment Protocols. The Medical Technologist performs testing, reporting of results, and related duties necessary for the analysis of blood, body fluid, and other samples in the Blood Bank, Chemistry Laboratory, Hematology Laboratory, and/or Microbiology Laboratory. Performs troubleshooting and resolves quality issues.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Performs, evaluates, interprets, correlates, and validates the accuracy of laboratory procedures and results on a variety of biological specimens using manual and automated techniques.
  • Monitors quality control systems to ensure accuracy.
  • Accurately identifies patients and specimens per policy.
  • Ensures specimen appropriateness and maintains specimen integrity throughout collection, testing and storage.
  • Efficiently and accurately reports results, including timely communication of stat and critical results, with appropriate documentation in the LIS call queue.
  • Assists with inventory management by documenting open dates on supplies as required by policy, and promptly notifying supervisor of low inventory.
  • Maintains an organized work environment to enable another to take over job duties, including stocking of bench supplies prior to shift end.
