Whether you’re an employer or employee in South Africa, you can easily check if you’re registered with the Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) by following these straightforward steps:
Steps to Check UIF Registration Online
- Go to the Department of Employment and Labour website: https://www.labour.gov.za/
- Click on the “UIF” tab in the main menu, then select “UIF Online Services” from the dropdown.
- Choose either “Employer Registration” or “Employee Registration”, depending on your role.
- Enter your ID number (if you’re an employee) or your company registration number (if you’re an employer) and click “Continue.”
- If you are registered, a message will confirm your details. If not, you will be guided to complete your registration.
How to Register for UIF
For Employers:
- Visit https://www.labour.gov.za/ and navigate to UIF Online Services as above.
- Select “Employer Registration” and click “Continue.”
- Complete the registration by entering your company’s details and your information as the authorised representative.
- Once done, you’ll receive a confirmation email with your UIF reference number.
For Employees:
- Follow the same website navigation to “Employee Registration.”
- Fill in your personal details, including your ID number, contact information, and employment data.
- After registration, you will get a confirmation email with your UIF reference number.
