In the unfortunate event of the life assured’s death, a funeral benefit is paid out to the nominated beneficiaries, subject to the validity of the claim. There are two ways to submit your funeral claim:

  1. Digital Submission:
    • Use Liberty’s digital form to send information and upload documents online.
    • Follow the step-by-step instructions provided, which include guidance on which documents to send.
    • You can save your progress and return to complete the process at any time.
    • Liberty will review your submission at each step and contact you if additional information is needed.
    • Once submitted, you will receive updates via email or can check the progress online.
  2. Manual Submission:
    • Download the Claimant’s Statement form from Liberty’s website.
    • The nominated beneficiaries must complete and sign the form.
    • Submit the completed form along with the required documents listed on the form.

How Long Does Liberty Take to Pay a Claim?

Once the final decision is accepted by all affected beneficiaries, Liberty Corporate will finalize payment within 15 working days. It’s important to note that unapproved group life policies are owned by the employer and not the fund, meaning these benefits do not form part of the retirement fund and are not subject to Section 37C.
