The National Traffic Information System (NATIS) is South Africa’s official platform for managing driver’s licenses, vehicle registrations, and related services online.

How to Check Your Licence Card on NATIS Online

  1. Visit the NATIS website:
    Go to https://online.natis.gov.za/#/
  2. Access the Licence Card Query:
    On the homepage, click the “Query Driving Licence Card” link.
  3. Fill in your details:
    Provide the following information and then click Next:
    • Select your Identification Type (e.g., South African ID)
    • Enter your Identification Number
    • Enter your Surname
    • Enter your Initials
  4. Complete remaining details:
    Follow the prompts to enter any other required information and view your licence card status.

Booking Slots Information for Driving and Learner’s Licence Tests

The Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport (GDRT) and its Driving Licence Testing Centres (DLTCs) manage booking slots with specific rules:

  • Tuesday:
    Slots open for Driving Licence and Learner’s Licence Tests only.
  • Monday:
    Slots open for Driving Licence Card Renewals and Professional Driving Permit (PrDP) Applications only.
  • Wednesday:
    No slots open. If slots appear, they may be leftovers from previous days. Persons aged 60+ can visit any DLTC for renewals or PrDP applications without booking.
  • Thursday:
    Slots are available for Priority renewals of Driving Licence Cards and PrDP applications.
    • Priority slots are for those whose licence or PrDP has already expired. The system will detect this automatically when you enter your ID number.
    • If no priority slots are available, you will see regular slots available to all users.

Important Booking Notes

  • You must confirm and pay for your booking within 3 days of making it for Driving Licence or Learner’s Licence Tests.
  • The system automatically identifies expired licences for priority booking.
